David Jackson's research project concerned differences in life span by gender. Here he has compared the average death age of men and women by decade. We know from national demographics that women out-live men by a few years on average. That trend doesn't show in this sample, maybe because the sample is too small to be representative of national averages. When I showed this graph to a group at the Fayetteville Public Library, somebody in the audience suggested that maybe men in Northwest Arkansas are just heartier than average. |
